William Ballard Hurd was born on August 19th , 1977 in San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of an African American father and a Caucasian mother, therefore his ethnicity is African American. Young Hurd grew up in San Antonio and attended various public schools in Texas. For his high school education, he attended John Marshall High School, from which he graduated in 1995. For his college education, the future congressman attended Texas A&M University, where he majored in Computer Science (major) and International Relations (minor). He graduated with a B.Sc. in 2000.
While studying at Texas A&M, Hurd attended a lecture by James Olson, a former CIA agent-turned-professor. Intrigued by what we heard, he joined the CIA with the help of Olson. From 2000 to 2009 he worked as an undercover agent for almost a decade. His work for the agency took him to different parts of the world (including the Middle East and Southeast Asia), where he spent time gathering intelligence, recruiting spies, and gathering secrets. After retiring from the CIA in 2009, Hurd worked for various companies, including a cybersecurity firm (Fusion X) and a strategic consulting firm (Crumpton Group LLC).
Hurd’s political journey began in 2014 when he was elected to represent Texas’ 23rd congressional district on the Republican Party platform. Will Hurd is currently in his 2nd term and has served on various congressional committees. They are the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the Information Technology Subcommittee, the Homeland, Borders and Maritime Security Committee, and the House Permanent Intelligence Committee.

Will Hurd is a product of an interracial marriage. His father, Robert Hurd, is African American while his mother, Mary Alice, is European. His parents met in Los Angeles in the 1970s. At the time his father, Robert, was a traveling salesman, while his mother, Mary Alice, was a department store buyer. They met for a short time and eloped to Reno, Nevada, where they married. They later moved to Texas due to work demands. Hurd’s parents had trouble finding a home just because they were an interracial couple. Besides his parents, Will Hurd also has other family members. They are a brother, Charlie, and a sister, Liz.
